Laura is a social performance specialist with more than 20 years of experience in the extractive industry (oil & gas, mining) and the infrastructure construction sector. She has worked in 4 continents and more than 15 countries, with extensive experience in Latin America and Colombia. Throughout her career she has held positions in the implementation of social management in the field, management and as a consultant in social performance, and throughout the different stages of the life of a project, which gives her a broad perspective of the needs of the industry and the relationship with the communities.
Laura's work has generated clear results for the businesses where she has worked by gaining a broad understanding and managing the socio-political complexities of their operations, including issues such as resettlement, indigenous peoples, conflict management and social management, even in highly complex environments such as countries in conflict. Throughout her career, Laura has been committed to helping companies, investors and communities work together for sustainable regional development. She firmly believes that successful social management relies on integrating social performance into business dynamics, having empowered and influential social performance teams, and going beyond standards and basing relationships on empathy.
Political scientist with more than 14 years of experience in academic research and social management, during which she has led processes of participation, information and decision making with communities, addressing issues such as social licensing for extractive activities, conflict resolution, memory building and participatory planning of territories. In doing so, she developed skills to engage in meaningful dialogues based on empathy, respect and honesty with a wide audience (children, persons deprived of liberty, youth, women, ethnic communities, peasants) and successfully manage public and private offerings.
His experience includes social performance for mining exploration, and his participation in the negotiation and implementation of the peace agreements between the Colombian government and the former FARC-EP guerrillas.
